Where I've been...

In case you've been wondering where I've been and what has been on my mind lately you can head over to my other blog, ourelleryrose.blogspot.com.
It's not about furniture refinishing and decorating- it's about my sweet little baby girl who's due in February.

Vintage Dresser

This is the matching dresser that goes along with the white desk. I LOVE the hardware on this baby! I just wanted it a bit darker- so I sprayed them with Rustoleum Oil Rubbed Bronze. I originally sanded & painted this a creamy white. However, the sanding or something was showing through in a lovely pink tone- so I painted it with like 10 coats of primer- and that is the finished color...a lovely primer white! =) Yay for primer.

Oh & since I am moving on Friday- there won't be any posts for awhile. I've got to fix up my house before I fix up furniture. =)

Can you believe it? Because I sure can't. I think I'm in denial. Anyway...before I get back to packing, I just wanted to say our house is up for rent if you know anyone in Colorado or who is moving to Colorado...send them my way!! More information can be found at my "house blog"...

new things...

I finished 5 pieces of furniture this past week- holla! Some, I have pictures for...some I don't. Here are the ones I have pictures for:

The corner cabinet.
I love this & found a similar one recently in a pottery barn magazine for $399. However, mine is much cuter & has more curves to it. I painted it a creamy white & distressed it a little to show off all of it's fun features.

The vintage desk:
This baby was a beast. And to make it even beastier it had a matching dresser that I also finished. Since it was SO old, I had to sand the heck out of it, wash it off and then I tried painting it- which turned out to be a mistake. I painted it in a creamy white & guess what...all of this funky red stuff started showing through. I hate when that happens!!! ARGG! Time is money...nawmsayn? So, I then put on like 10 coats of primer. And guess what color it is now painted...primer white. Yep, that is correct- I painted it in primer & it turned out great. I distressed it also & spray painted the handles in oil rubbed bronze. I love it now but I am secretly happy to see it go...

The Cute little end-table.
Some times I don't like saying what I paid for stuff...but since this baby was only $2 at Unique thrift store- I feel like it's ok. What a deal!! I painted this in a creamy white, distressed it & put a cute little knob on it.

Before: (it says $3.99, but it was 1/2 off day)

There will be more pictures to come of my other 2 pieces. Yay!

Turquoise desk with hutch top

This desk was pretty old and needed a good sanding- but since it was a good deal, I guess I better not complain. Also the hutch top was found at the best thrift store in the world- Unique- on 1/2 off day! Yay!

Yes, here I am in all my glory. And do check out my "love" pajama pants from Sophomore year of College. Still cool.

This would be so great in my scrapbook room, but it ended up in the shoppes, of course. =)

Vintage White Hutch

This hutch is so unique! It has only one door & tons of shelving space! It really wasn't in the best shape when I got it, but after a little TLC, some fresh paint and some new hardware it turned out great!

Catching up...

I have been so busy painting that I haven't had a chance to catch up this blog with some of my before & afters.

The Desk:
I bought this desk to refinish for the Girls Camp fundraiser and auction I was in charge of to donate and hopefully raise some money for the girls to go to camp. I painted it a soft white, distressed it & glazed it. Luckily, one of the adorable girls going to camp wanted it & bought it!

After (all set up in her super cute room!):The Secretary:
My mom & I found this secretary on Craigslist for a pretty good deal. Luckily, it was in great shape & didn't need any extra work! I painted it the same white I painted the above desk then distressed it. I loved it & apparently someone else did because it didn't last long in the shop.

The Vintage Cupboard:
This awesome piece my mom & I found at a garage sale last year & it was in rough shape. It had a nasty linoleum top that was chipped and it needed some repairs to the bottom part, but after a good fixing by my mom & dad it turned out AMAZING! I love it!

Before:

After: My dad took off all of the linoleum then my mom stained the wood a gorgeous dark brown. She also repainted it and distressed it!

One year later...

Exactly one year ago today we signed the papers and got the keys to our home! What a year it has been...especially in the de-stinkifying, re-carpeting, painting, fixing everything, decorating and getting rid of the ugly sense! Here are some pictures (well actually A TON of pictures) showing our progress. Enjoy!
