My first "commissioned" room

Last week my friend Kim decided she wanted to surprise her soon to be12-year-old son with a newly decorated room for his birthday. She asked me to help out & I was so excited! So last week I began planning & Kim began her scheming...trying to take out the dressers in his room without him knowing what was going on, etc. The day of his Birthday (yesterday) a bunch of us girls went over to Kim's and painted his room & put it all together. He was so surprised!

The paint color is this bright and beautiful blue from Sherwin Williams called Tame Teal. We got the orange comforter from Target. The lamps, books, lampshades, both clocks, frames and chair were all thrifted. (Special thanks to Cassie for finding those lampshades...so awesome!) The curtain fabric was from Hobby Lobby. He already had the dressers which were painted in a "global blue". The picture above his wall was a blown up print from Staples- for around $6! I love how it turned out- and even more important so did Kim's son!

The Loft: Before & After

This weekend my husband and I worked on finishing the loft...de-tanifying it! We decided to make a feature wall of white planks.  All we did was nail up 10ft. by 6" by 1" mdf boards that I got at Lowes. We spaced them about 1.2" apart and caulked in between the mdf and wall. It only took us a few hours and it makes quite a statement. Then I painted the rest room a pretty blue. I love how it turned out.

White Cabinet

I've had this white cabinet done & painted since January or February, but I have been a bad blogger. It was found by my mom (I can't even tell you how much I love it when she finds me AMAZING things!! It's great to have my own personal shopper.) She had it in her shop until I told her I wanted it. It was a super bright and ugly yellow with gray trim, so I painted it my "go to" color (KWAL paint- Apple Peel). It now sits in my living room and holds some beloved treasures- the first picture ever taken of Bryan & me, Ellery's teeny tiny hand and foot prints, and my favorite quote- "Be of Good Cheer". Hope you enjoy!
